FACULTY 1963-1964

HAROLD BEACH – Chemistry.  Educated at Idaho Sate University, U of I and Boise State.  Hired in 1955 and stayed at the High School until 1967 when he became Principal of the Air Base Junior High.  He retired in 1987 and still lives in Mountain Home.  He enjoys golf, fishing and boating,  He did take a fall in his boat recently and broke a few ribs.   MERRILL BROWN-American History. Received his education at Idaho, BSU and the College of Idaho and was hired in 1963.  He left the school district in 1978 and taught at Glenns Ferry High School for a short time before turning to full time farming.  He lives in Hammett, Idaho. Click For Photo

SHEILA CARTER—English II, III.  Hired in 1962 and left MHHS in 1966 when she move to Seattle, WA.  Her whereabouts are unknown at this time. Photo Not Available.

GEORGE DONALDSON- Physical Education, Sciences.  Grew up in Emmett, ID and went to Boise Junior College where he played quarterback on the National Championship football team.  He went to Eastern Washington University then graduated from the U of I.  He started teaching at MHHS in 1956 for 12 years then became an elementary school principal until he retired in 1991.  He lives in Mountain Home but goes to Arizona during the winters.  He plays a lot of golf. WILLIAM COLVIN—World & American History.  Hired by MHHS  in 1961 after graduating from the University of Idaho.  He taught for 31 years before retiring in 1993.  He is currently living in Pasco, WA where he drives a taxi cab for the fun of it and is a tour guide on a senior citizens tour bus. LARRY GIBBONS—Math.  He grew up in Gooding, ID and graduated from the University of Idaho on 1962.  He was hired by MHHS that year and taught until retiring in 1996.  He is now working on a farm and in a computer shop part-time and still  lives in Mountain Home. Click For Photo

FRED GIFFIN--  Math.  Graduated from Black Hills Teachers College in 1956 and was hired that year by MHHS.  He received further education at the College of Idaho and the U of I. He retired from teaching in 1993 but continued as a drivers education teacher until 1996. He died of cancer on Sunday, July 9, 2000

ANNA GILLIE—Office Practice.   Hired by MHHS in 1962 and left in 1965.  As of 1991 she was living in Columbus, NC.

MARVIN HECKMAN— Math.  Graduated from Nebraska State in 1960 and hired at MHHS in 1960 where he taught until 1967.  He taught math and computer programming at Kearney High School in Kearney Nebraska from 1968 to 1996. He then worked at Educational Service Unit #10 in Kearney until his retirement in Oct 1, 2001. Email: mheckman@nebi.com

SHIRLEY HERING--  Counselor.  She was educated at the U. of Nebraska and Colorado State then was hired by the School District in 1948.  She took a leave from 1955-1960 and returned and retired in 1984.  She lives in  Mountain Home where she is active in the Catholic Church. Click For Photo

GRACE HOWANIEC—English, Home Ec.  Hired in 1962 and left MHHS in 1965.  Her whereabouts are unknown.

DONALD HULM—Typing.  Hired in 1963 and left MHHS at the end of the 1964 school year.  His whereabouts are unknown.

GAIL HUNTER—English III, Journalism.  Educated at Erskine College and graduated in 1961.  Hired by MHHS in 1963 and left in 1965.  She was an Air Force spouse and her whereabouts are unknown. Click For Photo

VIRGIL JOHNSON—American  Government.  Graduated from Black Hills Teachers College and was hired by MHHS in 1958.  He had grown up in Gregory, SD.  He retired in 1987 and lived in Mountain Home for several years before recently moving to Presko, South Dakota. Click For Photo

PATRICIA JONES—English III, IV.  Educated at UC Berkeley and UC Riverside  graduating in 1963.  She was an Air Force spouse and moved to Mountain Home in 1963.  She taught until 1965.  Her whereabouts are unknown. Click For Photo

GARY KEYSER—Chorus.  Taught at MHHS form 1960 to 1964.  His whereabouts are unknown. Click For Photo

HAROLD KIRKHAM—History. Deceased. April 8, 1933- March 13, 1983. Graduated from Idaho State University in 1960 and was hired by MHHS.  He taught until 1983 when he died in a small aircraft crash near Glenns Ferry, ID. Click For Photo

BLANCHE KURTZ—Librarian. Deceased.   Originally taught school in Wendell, ID before being hired by MHHS.  She retired in 1970 and lived in Boise where she passed away.

CHARLES LAFONTAINE— Counselor.  Graduated from the Uof I in 1954 and from the College of Idaho in 1958.  He worked in the Mountain Home School District from 1954 until retiring in 1986.  He grew up in Twin Falls, ID and lives in Mountain Home.

SHARON LARSON—English I, II.  Graduated from the U of Idaho in 1962 and hired that year by MHHS.  She married Frank Ireton who graduated from MHHS.  She retired in 1999 and is currently living in Sequim, WA. Click For Photo

JACQUELINE LEWIS—French.  Hired in 1961 and left MHHS in 1964.  Her background and whereabouts are unknown.

KAY LEE--  P.E., Sociology. Graduated from Nebraska State University in 1961. She was hired in 1961 and left MHHS in 1965.  Her  other background is unknown but she currently lives in South Dakota. Click For Photo

ROSAURA LEITCH--  Spanish.   Deceased. She grew up in Puerto Rico.  Worked at MHHS from 1960 to 1966 then moved to Boise, ID.  She passed away but the date of her death in unknown. Click For Photo

LOIS MCCOMBER—Home Ec.  She worked at MHHS from 1959 to 1964 but her background and whereabouts are unknown at this time. Click For Photo

MONA NOBLE—Office Machines.  She grew up in Orofino, ID and graduated from the U of I.  She was hired by MHHS in 1955 and retired in 1990.  She and her husband live in Mountain Home.  They have a cabin at Pine and enjoy four wheeling and snowmobiling. Click For Photo

DEWARD PETERSEN—American  History.  Deceased. Graduated from Idaho State University in 1959 and was hired by MHHS that year.  He had grown up in Brookings, ND and came to Idaho while in the Air Force where he was stationed at MHAFB.  He became Superintendent of Schools in Mountain Home but retired in 1988 because of heart problems.  He died in 1997. MARY RINARD-  German.  Educated at the U. of Wisconsin and Northwest Nazarene.  Hired by MHHS in 1959 and worked there until 1975.  She taught at Meridian High School until retirement. She currently lives in the Boise, ID area.

FRANCIS RIST—Principal.  Started at MHHS in 1956 and left in 1966.  He is currently living in Boise, ID.

LAVERNE BUZZ ROBERTS—Wood Shop.  Graduated from Black Hills Teachers College in 1956 and hired by MHHS that same year.  He had grown up in Presko, SD. He retired in 1991 and lives in Mountain Home.  Click For Photo

BRUCE RUMPF-  Technical Drawing.  Grew up in Oregon but graduated from the Uof I in 1961.  He was hired  by MHHS in 1961 and left in 1967.  He moved to Beaverton, OR where he taught school and raises championship horses.  He spends his winters in Lake Havasu, AZ. Click For Photo

LLOYD SCHILLER—Physical Education.  Deceased.  Graduated from the Uof I in 1952 after having grown up in Emmett, ID.  He started at MHHS in 1952 and retired in 1986.
Mr Schiller passed away on Thursday March 9th, 2000 of a heart attack. (See Dedication Page On This Site) Click For Photo

WILLIAM SHANKS—Physics.  Graduated from Black Hills Teachers College in 1963 and worked at MHHS from 1963 to 1965.  He went on to teach at Illinois State University and retired in 1994.  His last known address was New Lenox, IL.

ROBERT SHILL—Earth Science.  Graduated from the Uof I in 1961 and taught at MHHS from 1961 to 1967.  He moved to Spokane, WA where he taught school and coached.  His current status is unknown. Click For Photo

ROSS SIMMONS—Senior Problems. Deceased. Worked at MHHS from 1961 to 1964. Click For Photo

LORRAINE STEVENS—School Secretary.  Worked at MHHS from 1960 to 1972 when she moved to Twin Falls, ID.  She worked as the secretary for the Vocational Dean at the College of Southern Idaho until retiring in 1997.

WILLIAM SMALLWOOD—Biology.  Educated at the U. of Colorado and Oklahoma State University and Southwest Missouri State graduating in 1953.  He was hired by MHHS in 1954 and worked there until 1968.  He has written several books and continues to write.  He has residences near Buhl, ID and Ketchum, ID. JERRY TUCKER—Biology.  Deceased.  Graduated from the U of I in 1961 and was a MHHS from 1961 to 1965. He died sometime prior to 1984 but the circumstances of his death are unknown. Click For Photo

RICHARD WALDREN—Math.  Worked at MHHS from 1962 to 1966.  His background and current status are unknown.
